To my dear SJHAers, Today is a day that I'm sure you and your families have been looking forward to. But, for all of you, I am fully aware that this pandemic has caused a disruption in the last school year, as well as anxiety and concern. I am also sad that for some of you, your final year at St. John-Hill Academy, as well as numerous opportunities to celebrate your crowning achievements, are being jeopardized by the global crisis. I know that many of you have managed to overcome difficult situations in the past, and while this one is both memorable and unique, I am confident that we will be a resilient community and that each of you will not only persevere but also learn from this experience. Indeed, we will all benefit greatly from this extraordinary challenge. Last school year was also a new challenge and a learning experience for me. Because it was my first time teaching in a prestigious school. I've had days when I wondered if I was up to the task of being your teacher in MAPEH. We've had highs and lows in this class, and it's taken my patience and scolding at times to get you to take your time and work hard. At times, it took laughter to make the difficult things appear simple. I know that all of the time I've spent with you has been well spent. In this class, I had all manner of students, it’s the diversity in your character and personality that helped me become a better teacher, and as a whole, a better person. Always bear in mind, a teacher's joy comes not from having an A student, but from knowing that all of his /her students did their best. As you move on to the next grade, I hope you put in more effort to make the next teacher proud, just as you did to make me proud. It is my fervent hope that you stay connected with your teachers, friends, and classmates. Continue to be confident, as I am, that your SJHA education and the relationships you formed, the learning you achieved, and the experiences you had while enrolled in your online learning classes will serve you well in the years to come. Prioritizing - One of the most important components of effective time management is prioritization. Working effectively and efficiently is not the same thing. Working hard on minor tasks may indicate that you are working efficiently, but not effectively. Prioritization is essential for effective work. It is necessary to write down all of one's tasks and then prioritize them in terms of importance and urgency. Once this is completed, one should start with the most important tasks and work their way down the list. Prioritizing is especially important when studying online because there is no one else who will do it for you except yourself, and organization is the foundation of your success. 3. Avoid Procrastination - Procrastination is one of the most significant impediments to effective time management. In this regard, studying at an online university can present an even greater challenge, as all work is done online, with an endless amount of temptations such as online games, social media, and so on. There are numerous methods for avoiding or dealing with procrastination. One of them is dividing large tasks into smaller ones. When tasks appear to be too large, they may appear impossible, and as a result, most people procrastinate; however, once these tasks are broken down, they appear to be so simple that they can be completed quickly. Working in a clean and well-organized environment is another way to avoid procrastination. It is extremely difficult to be organized and effective in a disorganized work environment! 4. Make a TO-DO List - Creating a to-do list ensures that you stay on top of all tasks, big and small. Trying to remember everything in your head is a recipe for disaster. Keeping a to-do list allows you to be not only organized but also to feel organized, which is extremely important. Make a point of prioritizing everything you write down in order to manage your time as effectively as possible while studying at an online learning class.
